It is always an interesting approach when restoring someone elses work. As an artist I would want someone to take the care with my work, so I do that with my own methods.
This long wall against the back of the property had water damage from the neighbors water leak...which has been fixed. So now we can repair the wall and water damage.
After inspecting the wall, the cracks and the paint, it was clear that several areas were in need of all new patch, primer and paint. I carefully pealed up paint and sanded to blend old and new. I added patch where necessary.
Much of the paint up and down these cracks had no primer and had to be completely removed...
I found the original signature of "Suzanne" (the original artist, not me) and preserved this as respect to the creator of this mural.
After finding the original sketch design I painted the new lines in place to mark the shapes and start finding the new colors. Brightening up the Blues was fun.
I refined the lines on the "view of Malibu" in the distance, and added depth to the ocean colors before restoring the palm trees.
